Almost summer again…

Hello HBJ friends and fans…

It’s been a BUSY season, thank goodness!!!! We have been feeding alot of hungry folks with our great new menu items.. everyone seems to really love all of the changes over this past year. We’re grateful for all of you who have given us another shot at serving you up some great food!

Our wednesday “Back to Lucky’s night” has become a huge success… the band rocks! Our wednesday and friday fish fry is going gang busters… it’s only $9.95 from 5-8pm, and some of the best fried cod you’ll find anywhere!
We serve food until 1:30 am on friday and saturday for those late nighters.


Our thursday night acoustic night is a nice contrast from the wednesday night 9 piece band too

We’re also doing some renovating on our beautiful patio, it’s gonna be so awesome, can’t wait for it to be done. SOON!

Fall is officially here!!!

Restaurant week came and went quick… thank you to those who took advantage of our $30 meal deal!
The weather is getting ready to change, finally!. We will be dragging out the fire pit soon for those chilly nights on our beautiful patio. HBJ is changing a lot right now… we’re adding a few more new items to our menu that we hope you’re gonna love, and getting ready to unveil our newly designed menu in the next few weeks…. we’re implementing a POS system, after years of doing it by hand, we’re finally transitioning to computers. This will be a nice thing for our customers, and us.
We also have a nice little happy hour menu for you. It’s available Tues.-Sat 4-7pm. And of course the BBQ ribs, our yummy burgers and pulled pork sandwich is pretty darned amazing!
Handlebar J is one of a kind, we hope to see all of you real soon, and don’t forget to consider HBJ for your holiday parties!

Restaurant week

Handlebar J participates in Arizona Restaurant Week Sept 15-23rd 2012… along with about 200 other great valley restaurants… we figured it was time to show Arizona the great quality and new fresh ideas we have with our food… it’s the NEW and updated Handlebar J! The BBQ Ribs are really great with our house made rub and BBQ sauce! We have Niman ranch burgers and Rib eye steaks… fresh burger buns, grilled artichoke, corn cob lollipops, jalepeno poppers! Almost everything we do is house made! Our craft draft beers are getting GREAT response… Moose Drool, Kiltlifter, ODell IPA, and more. We love the opportunity to give our customers great food and LIVE entertainment. There are of course a lot of wonderful restaurants in the valley, and back when there were 90% less of them, Handlebar J was there… we’re still here and better than ever! We hope you’ll come give us a try on your restaurant week rounds… and beyond!

Arizona restaurant week… Sept. 15, 2012

Handlebar J fans and friends,

We are so happy that summer is coming to an end, as I’m sure you are too, especially if you’re in Arizona, it’s been crazy HOT! We’re ready to see all of our regular out of town guests as well as the in town regulars, and hopefully some new HBJ fans. The cooler weather makes everyone want to get out and do some stuff, and HBJ is a great place to reconnect with friends, and meet new ones.

Please say a prayer for Herndon Brothers drummer Dave Rose, who is recovering from being hit by a car on his bicycle. Dave will recover, but has had a lot of injuries and this could take a while, but we are confident that he will get back to drumming with the band as soon as possible.


We are excited that we will be a part of Arizona Restaurant Week this year. It starts Sept. 15, 2012. Bring everyone you know in to try are delicious food… We will also be unveiling a NEW menu.

The RW menu at HBJ will be a 3 course dinner for $30.

Mid summer 2012!!!!

Hi HBJ fans!

HBJ is having a great summer so far thanks to our incredible NEW summer menu!

Our BBQ ribs are better than ever! Using a New homemade recipe, the BBQ sauce ROCKKKKKSSSS!!!!

Some new items we’ve added to the menu include: Corn Cob Lollipops (Elotes Asados), a south/western taste for sure!!!  Grilled artichokes with a homemade dipping sauce.. our Caesar salad is getting RAVE reviews! Vegan burger! Haibut with a pineapple salsa~ YUM! 16 OZ. Rib Eye steak, the “J” steak… (Niman ranch 100% veggie fed beef, local farm raised.)

We’ve also added some new draft beers: Moose Drool, (Fourpeaks Az. local brewery) Kiltlifter and 8th Street; Shock top, and our craft rotationg beer handle currently has “Monkey Knife Fight” (by Rubicon) an American Pale Ale.

We are currently closed on Monday for the summer.

Our dance lessons are doing really good too…. Wed. it’s FREE 2 step lessons with Wendy at 6:45, and Tuesdays we have Line dance lessons with Dee for $5 per person at 7pm. Get there early to get a spot on the floor!!!!

Handlebar J’s New summer Menu!!!

Hi everyone looking into this blog!

Handlebar J has a new summer menu …. we’re offering some new deliciously prepared items. Our BBQ baby back pork ribs are better than ever, If it’s been a while since you’ve tried them we encourage you to come have some! We will now have a Vegan burger; grilled artichoke app; corn cob lollipops (corn on the cob cut into 3rds, covered with a special blend of creama fresca, rolled in cojita cheese and sprinkled with chili pepper)…. Our NEW pulled pork sandwich with slaw on top is rockin’, and our fish tacos are a welcome yummy addition. Also, our “J” Steak will now be a 14 OZ. Rib Eye, one of the finest cuts of meat for you steak lovers! Our Caesar salad has been commented on by customers who say it’s “the best in town!”…. We LOVE hearing that! But really, it IS great!  Oh… and our jalepeno poppers will have you singin’ in spanish! The taco salad has changed as well, it now has a really nice chipoltle ranch dressing, with just the right amount of kick to it! We even have a veggie burger “The cow-less burger”, on the menu now!

Handlebar J has always been known as a steak and rib house; and though we still put out great steaks and ribs, the new additions are designed to give our long time regulars as well as new customers a new, delicious and exciting reason to come have dinner at Handlebar J again and again. Our NEW Happy Hour menu is coming soon too. 

Our draft beer selection has grown too. We now have “Shock-Top”, “Kiltlifter”, “8th Street’  and a rotating craft beer handle offering a nice selection from Pitcher of Nectar distributing. (These guys will be supplying us with a rotation of micro brews from Arizona and other small area of the country, starting with “Noche Dulce”, a vanilla porter from Tucson that is amazing!)

By the way Handlebar J’s happy hour is from 4-7 Mon. – Sat. $3 domestic beer, well and house wines.

Other happenings….

Monday nights it’s singer/songwriter night too! 8-11pm.

Tuesdays are great nights too, LINE DANCE LESSONS from 7-8pm ($5 per person) and live music featuring the James Parks band alternating with the Tony Martinez band, both bands are unique and fun to listen and dance to.

Wednesdays FREE 2 step lessons at 6:30. The Herndon Brothers play Wed. through Sundays.
